Sleeping Dogs Movie in the works with Donnie Yen

According to Deadline, a movie based on the video game "Sleeping Dogs" is currently in development.
Donnie Yen, known for Ip Man and recently starring in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is reported to be starring in the film.

The Sleeping Dogs movie is being produced by Original Film who had a hand in the Fast and the Furious Franchise.

Released in 2012 PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Xbox 360, and a Definitive Re-release in October 2014 for PS4 and Xbox One, Sleeping Dogs featured a story following an undercover Hong Kong-American officer, Wei Shen, portrayed by actor Will Yun Lee, who works to undo a criminal organization from inside. Players journey through each situation and rank up through the criminal systems without giving themselves away.

Triad Wars was a spin-off title but was cancelled in 2015. United Front who worked with Square Enix to produce the game shut down in late 2016.
Square Enix holds the sole ownership of the franchise, and for now the future of Sleeping Dogs has remained mostly unknown, with this recent news of the movie in production being the first we've heard any Sleeping Dogs news in a long time.

Along with Wei's police-work, Sleeping Dog's aesthetic also has some good down-and-dirty martial street fights, which is exciting to imagine Donnie Yen being perfect for.
Sleeping Dogs was a decent game, with generally high reviews despite many critics commenting on minor camera issues and few awkward animations. I found the game entertaining and refreshing at a time when the genre of open-world police games have been a bit dry.

Surely we'll hear more about the movie and possibly see a trailer by the end of the year. Did any of you play Sleeping Dogs? What do you think of the franchise becoming an action movie?
